Had an amazing stay at the L’Ahora Old Town Hotel! I loved the location right in the center of the bazaar and 10 minutes’ walk from the clock tower. The main restaurant/courtyard was beautiful and they had live music in the evenings. The staff were all very helpful and supportive. My one complaint is that the deadbolt on my door wasn’t working, which was very important to me as a solo female traveler - I had initially booked the hotel as a getaway for my partner and I, but he was not able to join me. The staff were not able move me to a different room or get the lock fixed while I was there, which left me anxious at night. Other than that, I had a great experience with the hotel, staff, amenities, and food.

Avoid if you’re looking for a nice place to stay. Let’s start at the beginning, you get dropped off the main road, then you have to walk through a super crowded fish and poultry market with wet floors with all your luggage for a good 100metres at least. Then, we arrive - super loud music and intense smoke smell. Unlike other hotels, which usually offer free upgrades, we were offered an upgrade at a price. Told us we should see the rooms then decide. We saw the room we booked… the economy (horrible choice) no windows and right by the music and smoke. We had to then take the upgrade, which we thought would be ok. After a long, we just wanted to relax. However, it still was so loud and would not stop till 2300 and the smoke smell very pungent. We tried to get him to cancel our trip, but they said not possible. We literally had to leave and book another hotel. If you like fish smell, smoking and loud music then maybe this is for you. Otherwise, avoid.

My wife and I booked this hotel weeks ago for our stay in Izmir in Dec 2025. We arrived and had to drag our suitcases through a crowded market to even make it to the hotel. After arriving, the person at the front desk informed us that the economy room has no windows except facing inside the hotel, with no sunlight or view available. There was also loud live music until 11pm every day. The room itself was clean but was tiny, as a 6ft man I could barely move around the bed. As all the rooms are situated around the central common area, cigarrete smoke was constantly drifting into our room in addition to the loud music. We paid 60 euro extra for the 'deluxe' room, and finally got a window, however it was just facing a wall with no view and barely any sunlight, and the smoke and music were still very much an issue. We ended up checking out an hour later as my asthma was acting up in the room, and were refused a refund by staff except for the 60 euro for the upgrade. We booked another hotel for the same price we initially paid and left, which was the best deicison. Please, do yourself a favour and find another place to stay in Izmir. I have no idea how they have so many good reviews on Google as the amenities and location as well as the rooms are not really not up to standard with other hotels, especially for the price theyre charging. If you like loud music and cigarette smoke in your room until the late hours of the night, then by all means. But for a similar price you can book a hotel closer to the water, with much better rooms and services. 2/10, avoid this place at all costs.

The rooms have an authentic atmosphere, and the architecture is beautiful. The paintings on the walls, the elegant headboard, and the stylish mirrors all add a nice touch. The bathroom was spotless — honestly, this was the cleanest hotel toilet I’ve ever seen. (A true traveler knows that the most important thing in a hotel is the toilet!) I also had dinner at the hotel. I ordered the beef tenderloin with Roquefort cheese — it was a bit overcooked, but I liked it because the sauce was made with real Roquefort cheese, not just artificial flavoring. The beer menu was very rich, with a wide variety of both local and international options. I stayed on a Saturday night. There was live music during dinner — it wasn’t bad, but the performer’s energy was a bit low. You could sing like that sitting at home too, so I think they should bring a bit more energy. Still, the atmosphere was elegant and classy. I left after dinner, but if they continue the music late into the night, the sound might reach the rooms. The only downside of my room was that the window faced the courtyard — maybe not all rooms are like that. The staff at the entrance seemed a bit unenthusiastic when I arrived, and the same person also gave a rather insincere farewell when I left. The night receptionist, however, was much better. Overall, I liked it a lot. I would definitely stay again. The location is perfect — right in the heart of the Old Town. Thank you!

I wish I could give this beautiful historic hotel a 10,as it is just that special. The only way you can drive to get to this amazing place is through a sketchie alley way. BUT PLEASE don't let that stop you as it almost did me. The reason for this is that the main entrances both open up into the open air market boasting 14,000 wonderful vendors. A guaranteed delight in every way!
